DanHatch Group strengthens its position in France

The poultry group has entered into an agreement to acquire full ownership of the French company BD France

DanHatch Group has entered into an agreement with the Belgian Belgabroed to acquire its ownership stake in BD France SAS. The transaction is subject to approval by the competition authorities. Once the transaction has been completed, BD France will become fully owned by DanHatch Group and will subsequently be renamed DanHatch France.

The French market is a key part of DanHatch Group’s growth strategy, and the agreement further strengthens the Group’s position in France and across Europe. The full ownership will also create increased synergies across companies and markets, as well as greater flexibility and security of supply for customers and partners.

BD France was established in 2017 as a 50/50 joint venture between DanHatch Group and Belgabroed in connection with the acquisition of the hatchery Goasduff SAS in France. Today, BD France owns six hatcheries in France.

“The collaboration with Belgabroed has been valuable and has contributed positively to the development of the French business. At the same time, Belgabroed and DanHatch Group have naturally evolved in different directions, and we therefore agree that consolidated ownership under one party going forward will enhance value creation for owners, customers, suppliers and other partners,” says Anette Hermansen, Group CEO of DanHatch Group.

Belgabroed also looks back positively on its time in France during the joint ownership.

“The journey in France has been an inspiring and valuable experience for the Belgabroed team. We especially appreciate the relationships built with the entire team at BD France, the former owners and all the business partners we have met along the way. We are confident that BD France, together with its current management team, is well positioned for a bright future and wish everyone involved great success in this new chapter”, says Steven Vervaeke, CEO of Belgabroed.

The full ownership means that the development of the French business will continue as an integrated part of DanHatch Group.

“With DanHatch France, DanHatch Group gains an even stronger foundation for long-term development and a clearer presence in France and across the European markets. At the same time, it becomes easier to leverage the Group’s strengths and create stronger synergies across the business,” says Lasse Olesen, Group CEO of DanHatch Group.
