DanHatch Group Sets New Sales Record

Growing demand drives new sales record for the poultry group.

In 2024, DanHatch Group reached yet another sales milestone with the sale of 534 million day-old chicks – an increase of 31 million compared to the previous year. Increased demand for chicks, both in Europe and globally, was the primary driver behind the growth.

Earnings followed suit, and the Group reported a profit after tax of EUR 6.0 million, compared to EUR 4.9 million the year before. The Polish subsidiary made a particularly strong contribution to the result, with a profit after tax of EUR 4.7 million.

At the same time, DanHatch Group increased its revenue to EUR 184.0 million in 2024, compared to EUR 172.7 million in 2023.

The European poultry market continued to be affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza in 2024. Outbreaks of the disease led to reduced production of hatching eggs in several parts of Europe, and as a result DanHatch Group felt an increased demand on this central raw material.

Capacity Expansion in Poland

In 2025, DanHatch Group expects continued growth, particularly in the Polish market, where high-quality chicken products are gaining ground. To meet this demand, the Group is expanding capacity with an additional hatchery in Poland. This initiative aligns with the new Hatching the Future strategy launched by DanHatch Group at the end of 2024.

The two Group CEOs, Anette Hermansen and Lasse Olesen, are pleased with the positive developments and look forward to initiating the construction of the new hatchery.

“Just like last year, we expect a 5–6% increase in the sales of day-old chicks in 2025, which means we are already close to being fully sold out. That is why we are excited to begin construction in Poland so we can meet the continued demand for quality chicks in the years ahead,” says Group CEO Lasse Olesen.

Group CEO Anette Hermansen adds:

“Over the years, we have built a strong organisation in Poland, well positioned to respond to the growth opportunities in the market.”

New Chairman of the Board at DanHatch Group

At the recently held general meeting of DanHatch Group’s board of directors, it was decided that Group CEO of DLG, Peter Giørtz-Carlsen, will take over as Chairman of DanHatch Group’s board. Group CEO of Danish Agro, Henning Haahr, will continue as Deputy Chairman. The board also includes Niels Dengsø Jensen (Chairman of the Board at DLG) and Hans Damgaard (Chairman of the Board at Danish Agro).
